Moses

Part 11 – Obedience: God’s Path Forward!

Exodus 11-12

The consequences of doing life your way instead of God’s way will make life at best and at worse!

leads to !

Now the Lord had said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. After that, he will let you go from here, and when he does, he will drive you out completely. Tell the people that men and women alike are to ask their neighbors for articles of silver and gold.” Exodus 11:1-2

(The Lord made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and Moses himself was highly regarded in Egypt by Pharaoh’s officials and by the people.). Exodus 11:3

The Lord loves to bring on His obedient servants!

7 When a person’s ways are pleasing to the Lord, He causes even his enemies to make peace with him. Proverbs 16:7 (NASB)

Will you be obedient to the Lord, even when it initially doesn’t make you popular or adored? Will you stand with Him or take a stand for Him, even when some turn up their noses or roll their eyes?

Then Moses said, “This is what the Lord says: ‘About midnight I am going out into the midst of Egypt, and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of the Pharaoh who sits on his throne, to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the millstones; all the firstborn of the cattle as well. So there shall be a great cry in all the land of Egypt, such as there has not been before and such as shall never be again. But not even a dog will threaten any of the sons of Israel, nor anything from person to animal, so that you may learn how the Lord distinguishes between Egypt and Israel.’ Exodus 11:4-7

And all these servants of yours will come down to me and bow themselves before me, saying, ‘Go out, you and all the people who follow you,’ and after that I will go out.” And he left Pharaoh in the heat of anger. Exodus 11:8

To follow , obedience is always required.

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. Exodus 12:1-2

Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. Exodus 12:3-5

Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframe of the houses where they eat the lambs. Exodus 12:6-7

God , and God , obedience!

11 This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the Lord’s Passover. 12 “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt. Exodus 12:11-13

14 “This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord—a lasting ordinance.” Exodus 12:14

25 When you enter the land that the Lord will give you as he promised, observe this ceremony. 26 And when your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ 27 then tell them, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.’” Then the people bowed down and worshiped. Exodus 12:25-27

Parents and grandparents have a keen responsibility to help our children understand to honor God!

28 The Israelites did just what the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron. Exodus 12:28.

Disobedience leads to despair and disaster… Obedience leads to a life that !

18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18

29 At midnight the Lord struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well. Exodus 12:29

30 Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead. Exodus 12:30

31 During the night Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Up! Leave my people, you and the Israelites! Go, worship the Lord as you have requested. 32 Take your flocks and herds, as you have said, and go.” Exodus 12:31-32

37 …There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children. Exodus 12:37b

Obedience !

37 He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold,

and from among their tribes no one faltered. Psalm 105:37

39 He spread out a cloud as a covering,

and a fire to give light at night. Psalm 105:39

43 He brought out his people with rejoicing,

his chosen ones with shouts of joy;…

45 …Praise the Lord. Psalm 105:43;45b
