May 3, 2026 / WatermarkWho is Jesus?
Part 7 – The Way, Truth and Life!
John 14:1-6
6 … “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
33 … “I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.” John 13:33
Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.” 37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” John 13:36-37
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.” John 14:1-4
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” John 14:5
I Am – It would be comparable to saying, “”
32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ Matthew 22:32
58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” John 8:58
59 At this, they picked up stones to stone him, John 8:59
20 “…I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:20
The Way – Jesus uses this phrase to distinguish Himself as “.”
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
The Truth – The authoritative in the Old Testament is referred to as the truth and it originates from God Himself.
142 Your righteousness is everlasting and your law is true. Psalm 119:142
22 But I tell you… Matthew 5:22
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Matthew 5:17
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
The Life – Jesus had just told His disciples about His impending death, and now He was claiming to be the of all life.
17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. John 10:17-18
19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. John 14:19
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, Matthew 5:13-16
1) Because Jesus is the Way, I can in His way!
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers, Psalm 1:1
Walk in with Christ, not culture. 1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked. Psalm 1:1
16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 1 John 2:16
with Christ, not the world. 1 Blessed is the one who does not… stand in the way that sinners take. Psalm 1:1.
4 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. James 4:4
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 1 John 2:15
Christ-followers, not Christ-scoffers. 1 Blessed is the one who does not… sit in the company of mockers, Psalm 1:1
2) Because Jesus is the Truth, I can in His Word!
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night. Psalm 1:2
103 How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Psalm 119:103
3) Because Jesus is the Life, I can live my life in Him!
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:3
6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, Colossians 2:6-7
