Part 9 – The Name of Jesus

21 “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21O

1. The Name !

The angel of the Lord appears to Joseph and says: “you call his name Jesus.”

There were two aspects of the Naming Event in the Bible:

1. The of the name: Who gives it to you is extremely important because the one who names you is your superior.

2. The of the name: The meaning of the name tells you what you are to live for, what you are here to do.

“The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.” Psalm 118:14

The Hebrew word for salvation is , meaning “God is my salvation.”

2) The Name !

• Jesus means , but saves us from what?… He saves us from our .
• He would be a whose words we are called to follow.
• He would be a worker with power over sickness, suffering, and demons.
• He would proclaim the kingdom of God and reveal the of the Father.

Carry the name of Jesus with you into every aspect of your week.
