Moses: Part 20 When You Live By Faith

Moses

Part 20 – When You Live By Faith

Hebrews 11:23-29

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1

23 By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.

24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. 25 He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. 27 By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible. 28 By faith he kept the Passover and the application of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.

29 By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned. Hebrews 11:23-29

23 By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. Hebrews 11:23

Parents have a critical window of opportunity to share their faith with their children!

6 Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6

– Moses made a choice to follow God’s will rather than fleshly instincts.

25 He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. Hebrews 11:25

– Moses fixed his gaze on the Lord and the reward ahead, not on selfish earthly ambition and gratification.

26 He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. Hebrews 11:26

2) Moses faithfully left what was comfortable to pursue what was honorable.

27 By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible. Hebrews 11:27

20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. John 15:20

3) Moses faithfully followed God’s direction over his own inclination.

28 By faith he kept the Passover and the application of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.

29 By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned. Hebrews 11:28-29

3 Practical Steps to Live a Life of Faith:

  1. To reject sinful pleasures in favor of Godly endeavors, my faith must triumph over my feelings.
  2. To leave what is comfortable to pursue what is honorable, my faith must be my security.
  3. To faithfully follow God’s direction over my own inclination, my faith must fuel me!

12 There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. Proverbs 14:12
