Part 11 – Finding Contentment

Philippians 4:10-20

11 …I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. Philippians 4:11b

1)The Overarching of God

10 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. Philippians 4:10

God is often at work in to arrange circumstances and situations for the fulfilling of His .

20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. Genesis 50:20

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Psalm 32:8

13 …But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:19.

2) The Unfailing of God

11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:11-13

Unless I know Christ in a real and personal way, have the of His Spirit dwelling in me, and develop a deeply rooted and trust in Him, I will be weak at my core, shallow rooted and vulnerable in the storms of life.

3) The Unchanging of God

14 Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles. 15 Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only; 16 for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid more than once when I was in need. 17 Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account. 18 I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. 19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

20 To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Philippians 4:14-20

10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Malachi 3:10a

10 …Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. Malachi 3:10b

19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

When I give , it is a fragrant, pleasing offering to God; and I am storing up treasures in heaven, not on earth.

6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 2 Corinthians 9:6
