Part 11 – Putting My Wealth to Work
James 5:1-6
Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. 2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. 4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. 5 You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you. James 5:1-6
In this passage James offers three areas of concern for the wealthy:
1. For the way they their wealth.
- By holding back .
4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. James 5:4

6 You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you. James 5:6
7 He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. Psalm 146:7

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, Matthew 6:19-20a

17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 1 Timothy 6:17

10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 1 Timothy 6:10.

So what can you and I do with what God’s Word has taught us today?
- Consider carefully what good I’m doing with the riches God has entrusted to me.
- Ask God how He wants me to better use my resources for the good of others and for His glory.
- Consider committing to support Errol and Igrima Zimmerman and Children’s Relief International on a monthly basis.
- Pray about traveling to the DR to serve alongside the Zimmerman’s in 2025!
