Luke 1:26-38;46-48

26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[a] the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.”

38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. Luke 1:26-38

The Lord is with you.” Luke 1:26-28

The phrase “highly favored” comes from a single Greek word, which essentially means “.”

Grace is “”; that is, grace is a blessing we receive despite the fact that we do not deserve it.

47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, Luke 1:47.

The Bible never says that Mary was anyone but an person God chose to use in an way.

20 Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins. Ecclesiastes 7:20

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

But he was pierced for our transgressions,

    he was crushed for our iniquities;

the punishment that brought us peace was on him,

and by his wounds we are healed.

We all, like sheep, have gone astray,

    each of us has turned to our own way;

and the Lord has laid on him

the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:5-6

29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. Luke 1:29

30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. Luke 1:30

Believers appreciate and cherish God’s !

There is nothing in this world that comes close to the God has given us in Jesus Christ.

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” Luke 1:31-33

The Messiah would stem from the line of David; but while David’s kingdom was earthly and finite, Jesus’ kingdom would be and !

34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.

36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. Luke 1:34-36

37 “For no word from God will ever fail.” Luke 1:37

14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? Genesis 18:14a

17 “Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. Jeremiah 32:17

2 “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted. Job 42:2

26 …“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

There is for God!

9 For he spoke, and it came to be. Psalm 33:9.

38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. Luke 1:38

Mary fully God even when she didn’t fully His plan.

Disobedient people God, while fully obedient believers God.

Mary to God’s plan and she Him!

46 And Mary said:

“My soul glorifies the Lord

47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

48 for he has been mindful

of the humble state of his servant.

From now on all generations will call me blessed, Luke 1:46-48
