Jonah 2

When God has your attention, it’s time to !

1 From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord his God. Jonah 2:1a

When God Gets Your Attention….

1)It’s time to !

2 Jonah said: “In my distress I called to the Lord,

    and he answered me.

From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help,

    and you listened to my cry.

3 You hurled me into the depths,

    into the very heart of the seas,

    and the currents swirled about me;

all your waves and breakers

    swept over me. Jonah 2:2-3

6 In my distress I called to the Lord;

    I cried to my God for help.

From his temple he heard my voice;

    my cry came before him, into his ears. Psalm 18:6

10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, 2 Corinthians 7:10

2) It’s time to the immense between you and Him.

4 I said, ‘I have been banished

    from your sight;

yet I will look again

    toward your holy temple.’

5 The engulfing waters threatened me,

    the deep surrounded me;

    seaweed was wrapped around my head. Jonah 2:4-5

3) It’s time to call on Him to you!

6 To the roots of the mountains I sank down;

    the earth beneath barred me in forever.

But you, Lord my God,

    brought my life up from the pit. Jonah 2:6

13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14

4) It’s time to or on Him!

7 “When my life was ebbing away,

    I remembered you, Lord,

and my prayer rose to you,

    to your holy temple. Jonah 2:7

20 So he got up and went to his father.

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’” Luke 15:20-21

5) It’s time to or your life to Him and to His service!

8 “Those who cling to worthless idols

    turn away from God’s love for them.

9 But I, with shouts of grateful praise,

    will sacrifice to you.

What I have vowed I will make good.

    I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’” Jonah 2:8-9

When God has your attention…. 

1) It’s time to turn your life around!

2) It’s time to close the immense distance between you and Him.

3) It’s time to call on Him to rescue you!

4) It’s time to focus or refocus on Him!

5) It’s time to commit or recommit your life to Him and to His service!

10 And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land. Jonah 2:10
