Moses

Part 6 – Broken Vessels Made New

Exodus 3:1-10

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 2 Corinthians 4:7

1) Moses heard from God on just another !

Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. Exodus 3:1

God speaks to people on days!

37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Matthew 24:37-39

2) Moses heard from God on an ordinary day in an !

There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.” Exodus 3:2-3

Sometimes, in the seemingly ordinary of our lives, God does something extraordinary, yet we may not realize it at the time!

God doesn’t speak to you shouting down from heaven, but He uses God-ordained events, His Word, and His people to communicate and advance His in your life.

3) Moses was ready to !

When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”

And Moses said, “Here I am.” Exodus 3:4

God to you when He has your .

Moses was and he was !

“Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” Exodus 3:5

God wanted Moses’ undivided and He wanted nothing Him and Moses.

Then he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God. Exodus 3:6

The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians… Exodus 3:7-8

Moses, that flawed, who had been glued back together in the desert wilderness, would be the one to lead the Israelites to freedom from oppression.

And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. 10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:9-10

Four life-changing lessons God has for you in this passage:

  • God your cries for help.
  • God has for you. 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
  • God can still you!
  • God has you from the oppression of sin through faith in Jesus Christ!
